Post Blog 10/29 - Courtney Sparling

I knew that Jameson was a tough reading to get through. I am glad that we are breaking it down in class so that I can better understand and unpack what he is trying to say because I do believe that he is very interesting!

I liked how we talked about the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in class today. I never really watched it, but I know a lot of my friends joke around by saying they are going to sit in front of their TVs with celery sticks because they want to look like the models on the runway.

So I definitely agree with the class when we talked about how the show sets certain beauty standards that are not attainable and also on the other hand how some people just watch for the drama and fashion. But still, seeing the models and noticing just how "perfect" they look is just not something one can ignore while watching.

I also found it very interesting how we talked about Coca-Cola and how the picture of the camel drinking it represents how the Western world is spreading to all parts of the world. Coca-Cola is such an American thing, so it being in all parts of the world (desert with the camel) is really saying something about America capitalism being in all aspects of life.
