At first the movie 'Memento' was confusing, yet after reading Baudrillard "The Precession of Simulacra". It all started to connect each other. "The simulacrum is never what hides the truth- it is truth that hides the fact that there is none. The simulacrum is true."- Ecclesiastes (388). I really like Baudrillard's idea of there is no longer anyway to distinguish between the real and the false. They merged and became paradoxical. Which he calls "the hyper real". It did not take me long to find out the movie "Memento" had strong flavor of postmodernism, and related to Baudrillard. My understanding of those idea is that, there is no such thing as real or fake, they are all real. Postmodern respect and understand that every individual has different understanding of what is 'Real'. To me it was understood as what you believe, and comfortable for you is the truth for you, not by other people that tell you what is truth. We are no longer sure what is real and what is not. It blows my mind how my ideas, and beliefs were so smiler to Baudrillard. Because I always thought everything we see is real, because it is there in front of us. I think everything we can imagine is real. For example; the movie "God Father" I know some people strongly believe that Marlon Brando is Italian and head of Italian Mafia. We all know that he is a actor and that was one of his character he played in "God Father". However, it is funny that how a lot of people are understand him as the 'God Father'. And people almost wants to believe in that way. The truth does not matter, it is what people wants to believe becomes the truth and real.
People believe what they want to believe. For some people Marlon Brando is the head of Italian mafia. For some people he is one of greatest actor. "The slippage between real & imagined".
