Memento showed how human nature disservices a system like this; by lying and placing signs and definitions that are not proper, the system is then corrupted and the reality is skewed by these lies. I know not what I have not witnessed myself, even my own subjective observation can skew reality, so really I know nothing. I do not know what the world was like before I was born, in fact I do not even know if the world existed before I was born. I may be a character that has been programmed with a consciousness that lives in a simulation of some high tech order. I may be in some futuristic amusement ride were you 'Live a Life' for some cost. Maybe my real self is immortal and I am just passing some time living in this simulation.
One thing is sure to me; there are, or there is the illusion of, forces that stretch beyond a human life span. They construct the reality of the past, now, and possibly the future. They exploit their position to write notes of memory and notes of observation not based on true occurrences but based on lies and the seizing of reality, in order to maintain a system that stratifies some while supplying enormous privilege to others.
In this condition, fragmented realities and disillusionment pervade us. There is no justice, only privilege. There is no nature, only products. There is no reality, only the trust in our own observations and the trust in the notes of others--a mediated reality.
